New things

Well, things have seemed busy since school started. But we have been trying some new things. Phillip, Evan and Brayden have all done something new. Phillip we have started to work with him on learning to bike on two wheels. Evan we started potty training four days ago. That is going pretty well, hopefully it sticks. Brayden started cereal, but I have not been consistant with it. I think I will have to start to do it regularly. So I will try to keep you updated on how these things go. Brayden's first solids.

Not a baby anymore:(

Douglas turned 7 years old on Sept. 3rd. It makes me sit and remember when he was a baby, seems like only yesterday. But you can definetly tell he's growing up. He's got the "I can do anything" attitude and he has a tendency to wonder off when we are out shopping or out having fun. Like he doesn't think he has to ask or let us know what he's doing. I think he wants to grow up too fast in some respects. For his birthday it was just us. He got to decide what he wanted to have for supper. So we had personal size pizzas on the grill and did presents after supper. Then we had cake. He has been back in school for almost two weeks now and he loves just as much as he did in Kindergarten.

Roughhousing and off to school

On Monday the boys were downstairs playing and all of a sudden Douglas is screaming and he comes running upstairs with blood gushing from his nose. He was apparently trying to pull something and that thing flung back and got him good in the nose. And of course James is at work and I am in the middle of preparing supper. But we got it dealt with and there is no sign of anything happening, no bruises or anything. Then yesterday (tuesday), they were downstairs watching a cartoon and suddenly even is crying and the other two are yelling at him to go upstairs to mom. So I run downstairs and I'm greeted by blood gushing from Evan's mouth. Apparently his face hit the back of Phillip's head. His top teeth bit into 1/2 of his top lip. Again this happened while James was at work and I was preparing supper. He took a bit longer to clean up and I posted a picture of what his poor little lip looks like today. I really hope it heals up nice. They don't do anything for mouth injuries, so it just has to heal on it's own. But it seems to look worse then it feels to him, he hasn't complained at all about it.

And yesterday I sent my baby back off to school. 1st grade already. Time goes by so fast.

End of summer, brings busy times!

We have had a busy week. Kind of a "fill everything in before school starts". On Wednesday evening we had Douglas' open house for school. He was able to see his classroom, meet his teacher and drop off his school supplies. When we got to the van I discovered that our rear passenger side tire was almost flat. James had said recently that we were going to be needing new tires anyway. So on Thursday morning James called around for tire prices and we got an appt. set for 10:30 a.m. We brought the van to the shop and took a walk over to our bowling alley because the boys each had a coupon for a free game of bowling. We had a good time. It took us about an hour to play. After bowling we went out to eat at the restaurant attached to the bowling alley. Had some good food then started heading back to pick up our van. On the way back we stopped at a pet store, (the kids really enjoy seeing the animals). So, we picked up the van and went home for naps. Later that evening we had a picnic to go to that Douglas' new teacher set up for the kids and parents to meet each other before school starts. That was a really neat thing for her to do. On Friday my (Pam) sister came to visit for the day with my neice and nephew. We had a nice day of conversation, went for a walk and after james got home from work, my sister and I went to look at tatoo ideas. She stayed through supper. On Saturday James had to work but later in the afternoon some friends of ours called and invited us out to their place for supper of grilled salmon. So we went over there for a few hours and had a good time.

WE DID IT!!!

At the beginning of the summer we said that we would like to take a bike trip to a near by town and make a day of it. Yesterday we decided to do it. So we went on a 25+mile round-trip bike ride. We got to the town and went to a kind of fun park. It has big go carts, midget go carts, bumper boats, a powerwheel course and mini golf. I took douglas as a passenger on the big go carts, and James took Evan. Douglas went on the midget racers. Then Phillip went on the bumper boats with James (didn't get a picture of that though) and last Phillip and Evan did the powerwheels. After we got done there we went to DQ for some ice cream then we met some friends at a park for a picnic and the chance for the kids to play. We had a fun time. We started heading back home around 6:30p.m. and arrived home about 8:15. We got to the town a little faster then we got home. It was a fun trip but it was a bit tiring by the end of the day. Needless to say I am a bit sore today.

So today James is working and the kids and I are taking it easy before school starts tomorrow. My baby is starting 1st grade.
